Dance is desire.
It is born from the need to communicate beyond words.
I feel alive. Rooted.
Is present moment.
Is a gift.
While dancing
I find myself dialoguing with
emotions, memories, images.
Sounds, rhythms, textures,
bodies and space.
This dialogue between
the outside/inside allows me
to get lost in time
and makes me travel
to a subconscious awareness.
The tension between having the control and letting go is what challenges me and intrigues me the most in my movement practice.
short bio
Sofia Seta is an Argentinian dancer, choreographer, and teacher based in Germany since 2019. Working at the intersection of dance, theatre, and performance, she is currently pursuing her Master’s in Contemporary Dance Education at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK). Her movement background draws from diverse influences, including Argentinian Folklore, Floorwork Techniques, and Street Dances. Over the past seven years, she has been expanding her improvisation and choreographic practice, inspired by interdisciplinary artistic collaborations with musicians and visual artists. Her artistic work investigates the emotional and physical dynamics of bodies in states of tension, transformation, and resonance, blending contemporary and urban dance with theatre and sound to create intimate and socially reflective performances.
Between 2015-2018 in Buenos Aires, she co-founded Colectivo MUTA, participating in the creation of “8 horas punto,” mainly in the off-performance scene, and simultaneously worked with Breaking Tango Dance Company. She has choreographed and performed various productions, including "Migrantes,” “Transition," "The Anxious Body," "Canticles," and "State of Joint" presented at different festivals and theaters around Germany, Austria, France, Chile, and Argentina. Additionally, she has worked in Berlin as a performer with Constanza Macras, the artistic collective Byström Källblad (Tanz im August), interdisciplinary artist Kyoco Taniyama, Elisabeth Kindler, and Sören Siebel. As a choreographer, since 2022 she has been collaborating closely with theatre director Andrea Pinkowski and provided dance training for professionals actors and actresses of BurgTheater (Rosslau) and PoetenPack Theater (Potsdam).
In parallel, since 2019, she has been facilitating dance practices and workshops for professional and non-professional dancers in Germany (Dock11, Marameo, Urbanraum, Bethanien, Katapult, La Caminada), Chile (C.C.Bailarines de los Ríos, Galo Sepúlveda, Casa Teja) and Argentina (Fundación Crear Vale la pena among others) with a focus on improvisation and movement research. In 2023, she was awarded the "Dis-tanz Solo" Scholarship to develop "Shared Practice," a pedagogical research project integrating elements of Qi Gong into the dance field. Additionally she works freelance as a certified Basi® Pilates teacher.
